Abstract:Based on the scores of undergraduates in Huazhong Agricultural University in the preliminary national english contest for non-english majors in 2010,this paper analyzes the difficulty and discriminability in the IQ test of national english contest,the correlation between students IQ test scores and their total scores,between students’ IQ test scores and reading comprehension scores by using the statistical descriptive method,T-test,the contingency table analysis as well as the interview.The result shows that there is some deficiency in difficulty and discriminability of the IQ test: students’ IQ test scores are irrelevant to their total scores and reading comprehension scores.IQ test is deficient in standardization and diversity.This paper finally proposes some suggestions on how to standardize,diversify and innovatize the IQ test in national english contest for non-english majors.
