Abstract:Based on the investigation data of farmers in Hebei,Shandong,Liaoning and other major vegetable producing areas between 2015 and 2017,this paper constructs the theoretical framework of agricultural technology adoption affecting farmers’ time reallocation by using endogenous transformation model and multiple mediating effects model. It quantitatively verifies the impact of adoption of drip irrigation on farmers’ income,as well as the mediating effects of time reallocation, including the employment effect, the premium effect, the transferring effect and the yield effect. The results show that the income of vegetable farmers increase significantly after adopting drip irrigation because of the yield effect and premium effect. The annual vegetable yield increases by 9212.83kg and the percentage of premium sales increases by 18.89%,and the corresponding contribution to average annual income of the farmer household are ¥1842.80 and ¥1354.75.As a whole, the mediating effects account for 61.97% of the total effect. Therefore,in the process of developing agricultural technology to increase farmers’ income, creating conditions for farmers’ time reallocation and improving farmers’ ability to reallocate time can effectively ensure the initiative and sustainability of income increasing.
