Abstract:With the booming of “Internet + Agriculture”,Internet development plays an important role in improving agricultural total factor productivity. The study analyzed the mechanism of Internet development on the growth of agricultural total factor productivity, then used EBM-SGM index to calculate the agricultural total factor productivity of 31 provinces in mainland China from 2002 to 2016,and used fixed effect model to empirically test the impact of Internet development on agricultural total factor productivity growth. The result showed that:1)the average annual growth rate of agricultural total factor productivity from 2002 to 2016 was 2.20%,which was mainly attributed to the agricultural technological progress.2)The development of the Internet had significantly increased the total factor productivity of agriculture, which was most evident in the central region, followed by the western and eastern regions.3)The Internet development played a significant role to promote the technological progress of agriculture, but to inhibit the efficiency of agricultural technology.
