The 2022 Global Food Security Forum for Young Scientists,jointly organized by Huazhong Agricultural University,the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI),the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) and the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Development in Transition Economy (IAMO),was successfully held both online and offline from December 2nd to 3rd,2022. The forum pointed out that while significant progress has been made in global food security in the aspects of food supply and consumption,it is still threatened by a combination of factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic,geopolitical conflicts,and climate change. The forum emphasized that the main approaches to ensuring food security is to guarantee food availability,ensure food access,improve food utilization,and enhance food stability. It proposed such policy measures as promoting modern agricultural technology to increase food productivity,optimizing the structure of the agricultural and food systems to promote the improvement of food security from quantity to quality,enhancing risk resilience to strengthen the global food system,and deepening international cooperation to improve global food and agriculture governance to ensure global food security.
