The state biology base of Huazhong Agricultural University has been awarded A twice by the State Natural Fund Committee and the Ministry of Education,and thus has a good prestige in the society.In this paper,the authors attempt to excavate the reasons behind the results by summarizing the unique characters from the following three aspects: as far as the eduaction thoughts are concerned,the combination of science and agronomy should be persisted,the base should depend upon the whole school;as far as the students cultivation is concerned,the fusion of teaching and research should be persisted to promote both of them to develop rapidly;as far as the exterior exchange,adhering to runing the base openly and giving full play to the demonstration and radiative effect.
