This paper illustrated the origin,new connotation and new functions of specialized agricultural townships as well as their types by taking Hubei for example.The problems that lie in the development of modern agriculture in central China were analyzed,including the opportunityes and challenges caused by the economic crisis.Meanwhile,the feasibility and necessity of using the specialized agricultural townships as one of the developing models of rural economy to accelerate the development of the agricultural economy were presented.Besides,the countermeasure and suggestions for the construction of specialized agricultural townships in the central region of China were offered.
