Focusing on the empathy research from the perspectives of linguistics and culture,linguistic empathy research has been carried out in the fields of Functional Syntax,Pragmatics and the interpersonal function of empathy.Cultural empathy research involves its formation,moderate principle,and its relationship with cultural sensitivity and accomodation is explored as well. Then the paper proposes that the fusion of empathy research from the two perspectives is for effective intercultural communication.
