Abstract:The Rochdale Pioneers’ Society is regarded as the prototype of the modern co-operative society and the founder of the Co-operative Movement.In this paper we first analyze the social background of its establishment in detail,and then we summarize its principles and make a description about its development from several aspects,such as changes of the number of the membership,trading volume and turnover,business innovation and education training.Finally,we put forward a series of suggestions such as attaching more attention to the fairness of allocation,respecting members' democratic rights,providing more education and training programs to promote the development of rural cooperatives in our country.
