In order to promote the interaction of elements between rural and urban areas,solve food safety crisis and provide experiences and references for the construction of ecological China,this paper analyzes “small garden of fruit and vegetables” of German citizens from its development,historical origin,legal status,management pattern,social value and ecological effect.The result shows that “small garden of fruit and vegetables” blossoms everywhere in Germany which has a long history.Its development is also protected by specialized laws.It has a mature management system and multidimensional social value.This paper proposes that “small garden of fruit and vegetables”conforms to both Chinese value orientation of ecological civilization construction and China’s policy advocation of integration between urban and rural areas.It also conforms to the consumption development demands of Chinese citizens.Therefore,China has the proper qualifications to try and develop “small garden of fruit and vegetables” for its citizens
