Pushed by the development of urbanization,the village relocation and combination has become an important measure of local governments to improve the appearance of the villages.Experience from J village in Shandong province has shown that the interests and feelings of the elderly population are ignored in the process of village relocation and combination.The practice of village relocation and combination has accelerated the process of rural social space commercialization,the labor marketization and the village class structuring,which causes the elderly unable to purchase suitable living space so that they are excluded to the edge of the cell space.In marginal space,the elderly cannot obtain adequate social support from young people and social participation among older age groups,resulting in the marginalization of the elderly spiritual world.In the process of promoting the urbanization,governments should respect their social rights and care more about their spiritual world and avoid establishing the survival barrier for the elderly.
