Abstract:Based on the survey data from 564 rural poor families in J township of Wuhan city, this paper explores the influencing factors of intergenerational transmission of poverty from a human capital perspective. The result shows that human capital is an important factor in intergenerational transmission of poverty. The regression results show that,in rural poor family, parents’ human capital has significantly positive effects on children’s knowledge, skills, health and ideas which indicates that children from poor families reproduce their parents’ poverty by copying their parents’ human capital, which causes intergenerational transmission of poverty.
