In response to the issue of farmers’ social class and wellbeing，this paper uses the ordered logit model to estimate and empirically test the wellbeing effect of farmers’ class identification,which is based on the data from China Comprehensive Social Survey 2010-2015. The results show that there is certain correlation between farmers’ class identification and wellbeing effect and farmers with higher class identification have a stronger sense of wellbeing. A further regional comparison reveals that the wellbeing effect is most remarkable in economically-developed areas. A household registration comparison reveals that the wellbeing effect of farmers’ class identification is lower than that of urban residents’. But the sense of wellbeing of farmers nowadays is stronger than that in ten years ago and farmers have more optimistic expectations for the class identification. These findings suggest that more importance should be attached to farmers’ development appeals and spiritual needs in the construction of people’s livelihood and the channels for the rise of class identification should be unobstructed in order to enhance farmers’ sense of wellbeing and ensure farmers’ right in sharing the fruits of social development.
