Abstract:Based on 614 household micro-samples in Jinzhai county,Anhui province,we did an empirical analysis of the effect of population aging and social trust on FBQRRL by employing Probit model and group-level regression model. The results showed, firstly, rural population aging has a significant negative effect and farmer’s social trust has a significant positive effect on FBQRRL respectively.; secondly, the two dimensions of farmer’s social trust, interpersonal trust and institutional trust, have a significant positive effect on FBQRRL; thirdly, social trust can mitigate the adverse effect of population aging on FBQRRL.The mitigation effects of interpersonal trust and institutional trust on FBQRRL are significant, the mitigation effect of interpersonal trust stronger than that of institutional trust. Finally, some suggestions were brought forward to perfect the social security system for old-age support for rural households who withdraw from their homesteads, enhance the level of social trust of rural households, and formulate a diversified policy for the withdrawal of their homesteads.
