Abstract:The rapid advancement of urbanization has drawn attention to how to deal with the collective income distribution rights of migrant farmers. This research conducts an empirical analysis of the effects of farmer differentiation and rural dependence on the collective income distribution rights of migrant farmers, using the 716 farmer household data collected from 3 rural reform pilot areas. The results show that farmer differentiation does not have positive effect on their willingness of withdrawal of the collective income distribution rights. And farmer groups with higher level of differentiation show greater tendency of holding their rights. With regard to other rights of rural collective members, withdrawal of land contracting right and the right to the use of curtilage shows no significant effect. However, withdrawal of these rights has significant negative effect on farmers’ pschological rural dependence, which plays a more important role than realistic dependence in the collective income distribution rights withdrawal. Therefore, patience and respect for farmers’ rural complex are as vital as the sense of urgency in guiding eligible farmers through the withdrawal of the collective income distribution rights.
